177. EXT A FOREST CLEARING DAY A boar enters, sniffing for food Hidden in the brush, Guy draws his pistol, but Wind stops him, and shushes him- Wind rushes from the brush
and throws the spear- The boar lies dead as the men go to it GUY Great throw Wind! Oh man. You could throw in the Olympics! As they reach for the boar, an arrow swooshes from the side and enters Guy Wind looks up to see Dom, with radiation burns and a bow He grabs the pistol and fires it- Dom flees into the woods EXT JOHN’S HUT DAY Wind returns with the boar and weeping JOHN Wonderful! A boar! What’s wrong my son? Where is your friend? INT JOHN’S HUT DAY The men are eating the boar- Wind is still grieved JOHN Yes, yes. I may be able to help you Wind- but you must have faith- I’ve had other visitors like you- from other places And other times- And I’ve prayed for them- Well- somehow- they leave- Simply vanish! Most unusual. Oh- I’m not sure about where they really go, but I assume it is in answer to their prayers. The only alternative is to stay here- and slowly die. 178. WIND Then why you no pray for us before? - my brother would still be alive! And- why YOU stay here? JOHN I am sorry I didn‘t tell you. I only wanted you to get us some food- then I was going to help you get home… As for me, although I seem to have the power to help others leave- I am stuck here myself. Perhaps it is where God wants me- Perhaps it is because there’s no one to pray for me… John and Wind then prays in visual and he disappears EXT DRUID CAMP- NOW AT STONEHENGE NIGHT Wind is suddenly back at a slightly different Druid camp Now at the STONEHENGE composed of rock He sees Dom cornered, this time by a huge wolf Wind has a brief moment to decide, then draws back behind a hut- and does not help draw the wolf away from
Dom Dom is attacked by the wolf, EXT A DIFFERENT CAMPFIRE SITE DAY A small group is seating itself- The Chinooks are absent Wind then sees traces of a modern society around the camp Pieces of metal are now used as spear points, old cans, etc. Some of the tribe members have a very mild radiation poisoning AMAN How did you forget my son? Dove missing- five nights now. We find footprints by big tree in forest- But we no find her- Your mother sick with fear Now Dom is dead- and you sick too Oh great gods- Have mercy on us! WIND Then father- How these big stones get here- in OUR camp? 179. AMAN It where we always live. Why you ask such a thing Wind? This jour-ney you talk of? May be it all just bad dream- Be cause you sick! You here now like always- Home! WIND Yeah, yeah I home (Hugs Judah) There no place like home! INT WIND’S HUT NIGHT Wind awakens to harp strain’s He leaves Judah sleeping and leaves the hut EXT OUTSIDE THE CAMP NIGHT Wind follows the harp sound and arrives at a big tree where the angel plays the harp again- Wind watches alone EXT AT THE ANGEL’S TREE DAY Wind cuts into the tree with a primitive axe EXT DRUID FOREST DAY Wind and Fire emerge from some bushes and chase a boar Fire throws a spear that goes wide and misses WIND Better luck next time, my brother FIRE What you mean ’luck’? WIND It mean …good hunting, it is a good thing. FIRE So- My brother now makes up his own words! 180. EXT CAMP ENTRANCE DAY As the boys arrive at the camp, they are greeted by Ahman AHMAN Wind, Judah having baby! My grandson! EXT CAMPFIRE SIGHT DAY The tribe is sitting to eat WIND Yeah- we name her Dove for my missing sister… MERRY My Dove will return to us- I know it- Now- tonight there no meade- we have warm soup- Pea soup. It must do. WIND (to Fire) Is good, no? FIRE Yeah Yeah- is … Good luck! They grin at each other and laugh and Wind slaps Fire on the back WIND Now let us go- help build one of Ahman’s ‘huts of glory’ EXT SAN FRANCISCO STREET CORNER 1967 DAY The Apostles Peter and John stand on a corner They are dressed like hippies and have long hair PETER Well John, here it is 1967 again- They’re calling it the Summer of Love this time around. 181. JOHN Yes, but it‘s too bad that most of these people don’t know There was an Apocalypse! They’re always so anxious to keep repeating the pattern. PETER All these people being passed over by the angel of death- and they don’t even keep that holy day now. JOHN Yes- Well I hate being buried in ashes don’t you? The camera has pulled back to reveal they are standing at the corner of Haight/Ashbury As they walk away they continue on: JOHN So… You think the end will come again by 2000? PETER Only if we’re not vigilant. We must press for peace on earth. But don’t worry- it will come again THE TWO SAY IN UNISON (with disgust): IT ALWAYS DOES! INT COFFEE HOUSE 1967 NIGHT Dove and Ian (Sun) are there with their instruments getting ready to perform- Dove has young Sun, and some
hippies are with them IAN So this is the big time. I thought by now I’d be touring large venues- Perhaps I should have signed on with Capstan and Empire… If the AMA didn’t pester you so much we could probably make a living healing the sick… 182. DOVE I no like to take… the… money- Healing gift is from goddess! A male friend says that there is no more place for the couples folksy tunes FRIEND Hey man- While you still play that acoustic, and your old lady strums that harp, The rest of the rock world Has turned to hard rocking… Jamming and tempo, my friend- Psychedelia! That’s what’s selling these days… He takes a drag on a joint someone hands him, and hands it back FRIEND (coughing) No man- No mas. No mas. Ay, mi ojos! I can’t even see! Dove hands her small child over to one of the hippy women (FAY) to look over FAY You know Dove- it’s funny how your boy looks so much like Ian- When you two hadn’t even met when you got pregnant- So just who is little Sun’s father, Dove? Anyone we know from your mysterious past? Dove just turns away and smiles a knowing smile while the others look at each other and smile knowing smiles
as well FRIEND You know- I couldn’t believe it when Ian took her on- Especially just when it looked Like his career was taking off- But they look happy together now- So maybe you should just love the one you’re with! 183. His dog runs up and licks him in the face FRIEND Yo Sanchez! INT DRUID HUT- YEARS LATER NIGHT It is during a storming tempest- Dee, in priestly garb, is finishing a prayer. The young children of the tribe
ask an aged Wind to them the story of the ancient war between the Gods where the thunderstorms all began They watch wide-eyed as Wind talks WIND And when all the god‘s fight- They threw fire and lightning at each other- And whole world Shake and boom- and everybody die! That why we have thunderstorm now- to remind us how terrible war is… AUDIO TRACK- “ISN’T LIFE STRANGE?” (MOODY BLUES) Ian watches a news report of the war while Dove looks at a book with pictures of primitive people “Isn’t life strange? A turn of the page, Can read like before, can we ask for more?” Wind is making crude drawings in a stone cavern “Each day passes be, how hard man will try,” Dissolve to sea and then to nuclear blast “The sea will not wait, You know, it makes me want to cry, cry, cry” (Flashbacks from previous scenes) “Wished I could be in your heart, To be one with your love, Wished I could be in your eyes, Looking back, there you were, And here we are.” Wind walks through the Stonehenge camp where he comes upon some boys fighting and breaks them up- He enters his hut where Judah lies sick with a fever. He hugs her in
his arms 184. “Isn’t love strange, a word we arrange With no thought or care Maker of despair, each breath that we breathe With love we must weave, to make us as one You know it makes me want to cry, cry cry” Repeat refrain: “Wished etc.” Flashbacks of Judah/ Judith/ Judy On a drizzling day, Judah is buried Wind tosses in dirt and walks away as others cover her over “Isn’t love strange, a turn of a page A book without light unless with love we write To throw it away, to lose just a day The quicksand of time, You now it makes me want to cry, cry cry Refrain repeats “Wished I could be in your heart To be one with your love… etc.” Wind is by the creek reminiscing- he goes alone into the woods and uncovers the Hearpe from beneath a rock
ledge covered with foliage-He plays it crudely by himself- as camera dollies back slowly, DISSOLVE TO: INT COFFEE HOUSE NIGHT Sun and Dove perform together on stage at the coffee house We see the performers, then faces of the audience Then the performers at the Admiral Benbow and audience Then those at the Brown Derby When they finish as the song fades out- Dove gives the new peace sign, holding out her hand and opening her
palm- DOVE PEESE! THE END ENDING CREDITS- ‘The Story In Your Eyes”- by The Moody Blues Credits roll over Super 8 film- “Procession” |
